Are you a car fanatic? Last weekend, my sister and I went to a car show in Prescott. It was great!

I don’t know much about cars, but these cars were amazing. I loved and admire the aesthetics.

Thanks you, Greg. Greg is the man at the end of the video with the mic. He invited me. I met him at a networking event, where he told me about the car show he was participating. He is a DJ - Playing Music is my Business - that’s the name of his business.

My sister and I had a great time!

What do you perfer? The city or country?

Every time I travel, I’m more convinced that I’m a city gal. I love the city, the big buildings, city lights, and the noise.

I do enjoy visiting small towns, but every time I came back to Phoenix, I’m home.

Two weeks ago, I flew to Springfield, IL for a photography business conference. This was with the Photography Business Institute with Sarah Petty. I’m part of her coaching program called Peak Performancers, where Sarah and her team help photographer become artist and a build successful business.

I figured I’d (re)introduce myself! My name is Janet and I’m a boutique portrait photographer from Phoenix, AZ.

I started taking photos of families and quinceañeras in 2018. Now, I help families celebrate each other with heirloom artwork. Artwork includes wall portraits of your kids and albums of your amazing family.

A little-known fact about me is I love taking selfies in my car.
I love going hiking, even though I do it once a month.

And it's not pretty or painless.

I used to journal a lot. I got this pink journal tucked away on my bookshelf for a while. I had already finished two journals and needed a new one. So, I grab this pink journal out. The thing is, I already wrote two journal entries back in September 2020. I took the opportunity to reflect on where I was four years ago.

The funny thing, I still struggle with the same mental issues but I have learned to push through. Also, I accomplished a few things that I wrote and I'm doing what I set myself to do.

Yes, growth is not comfortable. Growth is painful. But growth is beautiful, as well.
Growth allows you to enjoy every step of the way.
Growth is learning how to keep going even on your bad days.
Growth is different.
Growth is letting go.
Growth is spreading your wings and enjoying a good rainy day.

About this photo. This picture is from last summer. I went to Nashville for a business summer camp. We had a day to drive and wander around the city to take pictures for social media. It was raining that day, but we had a lot of fun.

Was I nervous? Yes!
Was I worried? Maybe a little bit.

It went GREAT! I have a lot to growth and learning to do to improve my public speaking.

I’m grateful where I am today.

I’m putting my photography out there and letting people know who I am and what I have to offer.

I was feeling a a bit discouraged because of things I can’t control, but after this interview, doing some house cleaning and taking a moment to reflect where I am today, I’m grateful.

God answered my prayers.
God revealed and confirmed the waiting season that I’m in and why.
God is preparing me for something.

I got ten pages (back and front) of notes from this amazing conference and I don’t know how to sum it all up. But here are some bullet points.

- Fear wants to make me fight alone, but GOD FIGHTS FOR ME AND PROTECTS me

Someone once told me it’s about enjoying the journey and not anticipating the destination.

It’s about laughing and making memories.

I turned my back patio into a studio for a 10min session with this little buddy.

To be honest, I thought I needed a “bougie” studio to take amazing photos.

I learned to embrace where I am right now and work with what I got. And I got everything I need to make little kids smile and give them a place to be silly and goofy.

I’m enjoying the journey, doing the work and I have faith that God will put everything in place.

You, my friend, remember to stop and enjoy where you are right now. Have faith and trust that everything will be ok. Laugh! Smile!

In my opinion, those are the most genuine and amazing photos of kids. It really shows off their personally and it makes you, mom and dad, smile. Those goofy smiles and silly faces captures their childhood and allows your kids to be themselves.

One of my favorite things about doing family portrait photography is hand delivering the wall art and seeing their reactions. It’s the reason why I LOVE doing family portraits. It brings so much joy.

Terri smile is contagious. She remembers that day of the season and loved the photo idea that her son had - taking a photo in the sewer pipe 😂. This wall portrait is going to be in her family for generations.

5 Places near Phoenix to take great Mother’s Day photos.

1. Anthem Community Park. This park has the most amazing waterfall. Make the trip worthwhile.

2. Freestone Park in Gilbert - This park has an amazing bridge for a family portrait. Plus it has a lake and a waterfall as well.

3. Sahurao Park - This park has a rose garden! Plus lots of green areas and two farmhouses that you can use as your backdrops.

4. Encanto Park - The most well-known park near Downtown Phx. This park has a lot of palm trees and river canals that go around the park. I haven't gotten the oppunity to photograph a family at this location, but I've done senior portraits and a maternity session. This is a great family park.

5. South Mountian, Scorpion Gulch Trail - If you are looking for a place that makes you think of the Phoenix Desert, South Mountian Scorpion Gulch Trail is the place to go. You'll capture that beautiful mountain view.

I’m somewhere in between - I like to plan when and whereI’m going to travel but once I get there, I like to just go with the flow. Have a list of places to see and once I’m there, I plan day to day.

Traveling is how I treat myself.

Right now, I’m aiming to launch a new photography project for Mother’s Day. So stay tuned. After that, I’m not sure - probably a road trip somewhere up north Arizona. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Setting goals is so much more fun when there is an incentive at the other end.
